England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey sealed a move from Liverpool to Swansea on Wednesday, seeking regular game time as he looks to add to his solitary cap for his national team.
The bald-headed Shelvey was never a first-team regular in his three years at Anfield, although that didn't stop him gaining a call-up by England last season and making his debut in the 5-0 win over San Marino in a World Cup qualifier in October.
He gave further glimpses of his potential by being one of England's better players in its disappointing European Under-21 Championship campaign this summer.
''Time to start a new chapter in life in Wales,'' the 21-year-old Shelvey said on Twitter after completing a transfer for 5 million pounds ($7.6 million).
Shelvey agreed to a four-year contract and became Swansea's fourth signing this week, after Spanish trio Alejandro Pozuelo, Jose Canas and Jordi Amat.
Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has largely focused on recruiting Spanish players this offseason, having spent seven years of his playing career with Barcelona and Real Madrid before coaching Getafe and Mallorca in La Liga.
The Welsh club has also secured a second straight season-long loan for Netherlands midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.
