Cesare Prandelli's debut as Italy's coach has ended with a 1-0 loss to the Ivory Coast, the Azzurri's first game since their humiliating World Cup exit.
Defender Kolo Toure scored on a header in the 55th minute of Tuesday's exhibition game. Guy Demel curled in a cross that Toure headed past goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
A shot by Italy's Marco Motta in the 47th minute hit the post. Italy showed some fine touches, especially by Antonio Cassano, but could not score.
Prandelli has replaced Marcello Lippi, whose team did not win a game at the World Cup and was ousted in the first round.
