Is Landon Donovan Coming Out of Retirement?

There has been rumors floating around that retired US Men’s National Team striker and LA Galaxy legend Landon Donovan is coming out of retirement to play.
Okay, what?
Thursday morning has been on fire with the rumor that Landon Donovan, yes the Landon Donovan, is coming out of retirement to play again for the LA Galaxy.

It has been two years since the MLS all time leader in goals and assists has played professionally. His last game was the 2014 MLS Cup Championship against the New England Revolution, which the Galaxy won in extra time 2-1.
The biggest question is, though, how much will Donovan actually help the Galaxy out? He has been out of the professional game for 2 years now, and his fitness could be called into question. At 34 years of age, Donovan could come back and be the difference maker that the Galaxy need, but he could just as easily be 10 steps behind everyone else. We won’t know for sure what will happen until it actually does.
These rumors are still flying around with no actual official news yet.
In his time in the MLS, Donovan had played in 334 regular season games and scored 144 goals. He currently holds the all time MLS assist record and goals scored record. Donovan is arguably the best player in MLS history and the best player to put on the US jersey.
