Hodgson backs fringe strikers
Long is doubtful with a leg injury suffered in training on Tuesday while Odemwingie has still not recovered from a knee setback sustained ahead of the game with Arsenal three weeks ago. But Hodgson has confidence in Simon Cox, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Somen Tchoyi if he has to draft any of them into his line-up. He said: "In our dreams at the start of the season, we saw Shane and Peter playing but we haven't realised that dream yet. But you look at the other strikers and Tchoyi has not done badly in the games he's played and Cox is a current Ireland international. "He has constantly tried to remind me not to forget about him and said 'I'm a good player too and I can help you in your team.' I think he has made certain that what quality he has got, he's really brought to the table. "Fortune has also not let the club down or myself down when given a chance. We are not talking about a bad player in Marc Antoine Fortune which is something that gives me great hope for the season."
