Thorsten Fink has every faith that Hamburg will lift themselves off the foot of the Bundesliga, despite a third defeat at Werder Bremen.
The arrival of Rafael van der Vaart on Friday is not the only reason behind Fink's optimism, which seems a little out of place after elimination from the DFB-Pokal and two straight Bundesliga reverses.
"We will not be in a relegation battle, it's as simple as that," said the Rothosen coach.
"We are a good team and now we have signed more good new players.
"I am certain that they will help take us up the table, but those who were already here are not bad either."
Fink feels that the pressure is starting to get to his players, who are making too many uncharacteristic mistakes.
"We have got to get rid of these (mistakes)," he told Sky television after yesterday's 2-0 loss in the north Germany derby.
"We played pretty well, but made too many individual mistakes and you cannot win games in the Bundesliga with those."
Van der Vaart was given only a watching brief less than 24 hours after completing his transfer from Tottenham, but he should be able to make his return against Eintracht Frankfurt in a fortnight.
