Dundee have received a formal offer from a Texas-based consortium for the controlling interest in the club, according to reports on Monday.

Dundee were relegated to Division One after finishing bottom of the Scottish Premier League, but the club's future looks brighter as a major American investor, joined by two current directors, hope to invest fresh funds.

Board members are thought to be currently discussing the offer and a takeover of approximately 51% of the club could be ratified within days.

The consortium have drawn up a five-year plan, including the injection of a six figure sum into the club, and they intend to keep John Brown as manager.

Reports suggest that Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner has been working on the deal for over a year and the consortium will attempt to buy back ownership of Dens Park from John Bennett.
