Dowie: Tigers can avoid the drop

Hull were beaten 3-2 at Fratton Park on Saturday after blowing a 2-1 lead with only four minutes left but the new boss believes their bid for the four wins from eight that should get them safe is very much still on. "There's no doubt about that," he said. "The spirit, desire and tenacity was there and some of the football was decent. "It's important that we have a target and set goals. Everyone says 35 or 36. This was a disappointment because we wanted a minimum of a point and anyone in the ground would have said we deserved it." Dowie, who saw Andy Dawson pick up a hamstring injury and had Jozy Altidore and Amr Zaki ruled out before the game, insists being in the dug-out is better than pursuing a career in the media. "I've missed it," he said. "There is no bigger thrill than when the second goal goes in and no bigger disappointment than when they scored their third. It's a rollercoaster and it's not good for your heart but it's a fantastic thing."
