Matias Vuoso and Daniel Montenegro scored in a two-minute span to give Club America of Mexico City a 2-1 victory over crosstown rival Cruz Azul in an exhibition Saturday night at the Rose Bowl.

Vuoso put Club America ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute. Montenegro's long pass from midfield between two defenders freed Vuoso for a breakaway, and Vuoso converted a diagonal 13-yard shot inside the right post.

In the 37th minute, Montenegro volleyed Israel Martinez's left-wing cross inside the left post from 16 yards. Oscar Rojas began the sequence with a back-heel pass to Martinez.

Cruz Azul's Christian Gimenez scored on a 28-yard free kick in the 90th minute.
