FIFA president Sepp Blatter says he has received backing from seven Central American federations for his re-election bid after touring the region.
Blatter says his tour is not connected to his re-election campaign but to fulfill his duties as the head of FIFA.
The Swiss-based president ended his week-long Central American visit on Saturday in Panama, where he met with President Ricardo Martinelli. He also traveled to Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras and Belize.
Blatter, who has been FIFA president for 13 years, faces Mohamed bin Hammam of Qatar in the June 1 election, a rare challenge in his bid for another four-year term to head world football.
