Ajax says it has broken off transfer talks with Bayern Munich about a move for Netherlands right back Gregory van der Wiel from Amsterdam to the German champion.
Ajax says it set a deadline during negotiations that expired at noon (1000 GMT).
The club said in a statement Wednesday that "Ajax and Bayern Munich are no longer in talks about Gregory van der Wiel."
Selling Van der Wiel would have given Ajax trainer Martin Jol money to spend strengthening his squad.
