Luis Suarez scored the opening goal - his 45th of the season - from the penalty spot in the fourth minute, and Marko Pantelic added the second just before the hour. The result, their 12 straight win, saw Martin Jol's side advance to 79 points - one behind Steve McClaren's Twente, who lost 1-0 last night at AZ Alkmaar - with two games of the campaign remaining. A brave VVV-Venlo fightback proved in vain as Roda JC killed off the Eredivisie strugglers in the second half. Roda seemed to be cruising to an easy victory when they went two up through up Willem Janssen and Jan-Paul Saeijs inside 21 minutes, but Alex Nkume and Gonzalo ensured scores were level at 2-2 at the break. But VVV offered little in the second half and Roda took advantage with goals from Mads Junker and Morten Skoubo sealing the points in a 4-2 win.
