Yandle goes to Team Chara in All-Star draft
Keith Yandle had to wait around for a little while Thursday night, but not nearly as long as Logan Couture.
Yandle, the Coyotes' lone representative in the NHL All-Star Game, went in the 11th round (out of 19 rounds) of the All-Star draft, selected by team captain Daniel Alfredsson of the host Senators. Yandle was the fifth defenseman selected for Alfredsson's team and the eighth defenseman selected overall.
Yandle's team includes a heavy Ottawa contingent, as Alfredsson's first two picks were defenseman Erik Karlsson and center Jason Spezza, both Senators.
Couture, a forward for the San Jose Sharks, suffered the embarrassment of being the final pick of the draft, No. 38 overall. The silver lining: As the last pick, Couture won a car and $20,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.
The first pick in the draft -- which went to team captain Zdeno Chara of
the Boston Bruins via a puck flip with Alfredsson -- was Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk.
