Whittington returns to Fort Wayne after short stay with Pacers

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:37 p.m. ET

Forward/center Shayne Whittington didn't leave the bench during his one-game stay with the Pacers after being called up Tuesday from Fort Wayne. And now the second-year player is back in the NBA's Development League.

The Pacers had recalled Whittington as insurance in case center Jordan Hill (mild knee sprain) couldn't play Tuesday against the Celtics. But Hill did play and now Whittington is back with the Mad Ants, where he is averaging 12.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game over 34 games.
