Back in December when Larry Fedora was introduced as head coach of the North Carolina he warned Tar Heel fans this.

“Understand if you get up to go get a drink you just missed a Tar Heel touchdown,” Fedora said.

If you didn’t believe Fedora then the Tar Heels 62-0 blowout of Elon might make you cross your legs and hold it in next time.
A Tar Heel fan can’t afford a bathroom break with North Carolina’s “Fed Spread” offense. In 16 offensive possessions, North Carolina scored on 10 of them against the Phoenix. Only twice did the Tar Heels possess the ball more than three minutes. That’s fast.

I recall what Sylvia Hatchell, North Carolina’s women’s basketball coach told me years ago: “There’s fast and then there’s Carolina fast.”

Larry Fedora has brought Coach Hatchell’s philosophy to the Tar Heel football team. What do you expect from someone who seems to have a hard time staying still?

“I'm a high energy guy. I expect a team to play that way.” Fedora said.

Since 1926, only six North Carolina coaches won in there Tar Heel debut: Carl Snavely, Ray Wolf, Jim Tatum, George Barclay, Dick Crum and Butch Davis.

You can add Larry Fedora to that list.

The “Fed Spread” is off to a good start in Chapel Hill.
