UA softball defeats LSU
Lauren Schutzler recorded two of Arizona's three hits, including a two-run double, and Kenzie Fowler worked out of three bases-loaded jams as the third-ranked Wildcats improved to 11-1 with a 4-1 victory over No. 20 LSU in Palm Desert, Calif.
The 20th-ranked Tigers outhit Arizona four to three, but the Cats built a four-run lead through two innings that LSU could not overcome.
Schutzler scored Arizona's first run in the first inning when Stacie Chambers' line drive popped out of the glove of Simone Heyward.
In the second, a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases with one out for Schutzler. She doubled home two runs and Brigette Del Ponte then hit a sacrifice fly to score Brittany Lastrapes from third.
Arizona faces No. 1 Georgia at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by a game against Virginia.
