UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley might be best known for knocking out people in the Octagon, but he's quickly gaining recognition for his acting skills in Hollywood.

Woodley already has starred and done stunts in several high-profile television shows and films including Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Olympus Has Fallen."  Now the top-10-ranked fighter has landed a small part in the upcoming N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton," according to Ariel Helwani of "UFC Tonight."

Directed by F. Gary Gray ("Friday," "Set It Off"), the movie chronicles the rise of one of the biggest hip-hop groups of all time. The group came from the streets of Compton, California in the 1980's and became one of the most infamous rap troops in the history of music.

The film stars Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti as the group's manager Jerry Heller, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E and O'Shea Jackson Jr. as his father Ice Cube. "Straight Outta Compton" opens in August 2015.

In addition to his acting roles, Woodley also is touring his hometown of Ferguson, Missouri as part of celebrities working to empower youth. The town was torn apart with recent violence and Woodley wants to do his part to help rebuild the community.
