After outrighting Nick Blackburn to Triple-A on Monday, the Minnesota Twins filled his spot in the starting rotation Tuesday, recalling right-hander Liam Hendriks from Rochester.
The 23-year-old Australian has dominated Triple-A this season, going 9-3 with a 2.20 ERA in 16 starts and 106 1/3 innings for the Red Wings. But Hendriks struggled in the big leagues this season.
Making the Opening Day roster, Hendriks went 0-5 with a 7.04 ERA in eight starts and 38 1/3 innings for the Twins.
Hendriks will start Wednesday against Oakland in the series finale.
