TUF Talk: Randa Markos on her upset victory over Tecia Torres
The Ultimate Fighter premiered on Wednesday night and the action started off with a massive upset as No. 14 ranked Randa Markos eliminated No. 3 seed Tecia Torres. Markos was a relative unknown going into the series with a 4-1 record without fighting out of Invicta Fighting Championships like many of the top seeds in the competition.
Markos embraced her underdog role as soon as the rankings were announced and she knew that a win over Torres -- who many picked to win the entire series -- would set the tone for her entire run on the show.
Mission accomplished.
"Nobody knows anything about me. They only know about my loss to Justine (Kish) and just going in there and seeing that I was No. 14 just made me want it more. This is my show, now I need to show them what I can do. I had to prove to everyone what I could do," Markos told TUF Talk this week.
"Everyone probably thought she was going to walk right through me."
