TUF 24 Results: Sara Mcmann Submits Alexis Davis
Two of the UFC’s finest female fighters shined a bright light on their division as Sara McMann impressively submits the returning Alexis Davis in the second round of their bout in Las Vegas.
Alexis Davis returned back to UFC action after over 19 months away due to pregnancy as she meet Olympic silver medal winner Sara McMann. She had quite some hype behind her return as she is one of only four women to beat current UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
Unfortunately this hype didn’t last long as she succumbed to fellow former title challenger, Sara McMann in the second round of their encounter.
Davis saw some early success as she managed to steal round 1.
Round 1 opened with McMann managing to land a few good strikes before taking the game to the ground thanks to a huge take-down. On the ground things changed as Davis a BJJ specialist constantly threatened a submission while unleashing heavy elbows which caused some damage to the face of McMann.
Round 2 saw the same pattern but this time McMann took the game to the ground as soon as she could. The gamble paid off as she manged to produce an arm triangle to force the submission artist to tap out.
The win moves McMann one step closer to that ever elusive UFC title shot once again.
This was the first time Davis had lost a match via a submission in her career. With the win McMann is now on a 2 fight UFC win streak and has gone 3-2 in her last five outings.
