MINNEAPOLIS -- There was a time when Mo Williams went by "The Hitman."

Maybe they should start calling him "Mr. 52."

Thanks largely to his franchise-record, NBA season-high 52 points last Tuesday at Indiana, the 32-year-old Timberwolves point guard was named the league's Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Jan. 12-18. The outburst boosted Williams to 30.3 points, 6.3 assists and 39.8 minutes during a week in which Minnesota went 2-1.

After dropping 52 points and seven assists on the Pacers, Williams had 26 points, five assists and three steals in Friday's loss at Phoenix. Saturday at Denver, he finished with 13 points and seven helpers in the Wolves' seventh win of the season.

On the year, Williams averages 12.9 points and 6.5 assists per game.
