OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Thunder released a pair of former Big 12 players Friday morning, waiving Rodney McGruder and Diante Garrett.
Garett played at Iowa State and averaged 3.2 points per game in six preseason games. Like McGruder, who played at Kansas State, neither was expected to make the team. McGruder played in just two preseason games.
Oklahoma City released center Daniel Orton two weeks ago. Its roster is at 14 players.
The moves Friday seem to mean swingman Ryan Gomes would make the team. The 31 year-old veteran signed in the offseason. He's played in just one preseason game, logging 12 minutes against the Pelicans. Gomes scored 11 points and made all three of his 3-pointers in that game.
