The Spurs are 8-1 and have the best record in the Western Conference in the young season. While many of the team's players are getting older, head coach Gregg Popovich has found a way to get the best out of his aging stars pairing them with a young core off the bench.
Wednesday, San Antonio had six players in double figures, and ten players logged at least 15 minutes, with none cracking the 26-minute barrier in an easy 92-79 win over the Washington Wizards.
After the rout, Wizards center Marcin Gortat was so impressed with the defending Western Conference champions he compared the Spurs to listening Mozart.
"San Antonio runs offense perfectly. It was like listening to Mozard," Gortat said. "It's just ridiculous how they play.
Washington shooting guard Bradley Beal also was handing out complements to the Spurs after the game.
"When you have a team like that, not just the first group, but the second group plays the exact same way and the third group plays the same way," Beal said. "So it's really tough when you have a team like that who is capable of just moving the ball, passing the ball, cutting every second, and not getting tired on top of that."
Popovich might come across as cranky and hard to please, but in reality, he is just out there conducting his own Symphony No. 40 in G minor with his Spurs.
