San Diego Buzz: Padres play Fantasy Football, Chargers prepare for Cincinnati

Published Sep. 18, 2015 12:10 p.m. ET

The San Diego Chargers are coming off a huge win in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions, when they scored 30 unanswered points to overcome a 21-3 deficit in the regular season opener. Unfortunately, offensive lineman D.J. Fluker went down with an ankle injury and is expected to miss considerable time before his return. Contrary to Week 1, it appears the Chargers are the "unhealthier" team this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, but nonetheless are going to try to get to 2-0 for the first time in three years.

While the Padres head into the final stretch of the 2015 season, they'll look to take over third place in the NL West in their last series against the Rockies this weekend. One of the fun things about being virtually out of the playoff race is that some unusual things can happen, such as Craig Kimbrel getting his first at bat on Wednesday night. And while the Friars look to work together on the field and finish the season on a positive note, they'll be competing against each other in Fantasy Football, much like the rest of the country.

This weekend is the Pedal the Cause San Diego event, which seeks to raise funds for local cancer research in the fight to end cancer across the world. Last weekend was the first ever Pedal the Cause Radio-Telethon event, which aired live on FOX Sports San Diego and The Mighty 1090 and raised over $86,000. Last weekend's events also featured the first ever "Spin at the Park" event, where people took a huge spin class at Petco Park during the Padres-Giants game, which aired on the big screen during the class. To make a donation, click here.

Both Travis Jankowski and Alex Dickerson made their MLB debuts this year with the Padres, and both were guests on #SDLive this week. Both talked about their transition into the Bigs, but even more interesting was hearing them talk about that moment they found out they made it to the show.

On Wednesday, the Anaheim Ducks and FOX Sports San Diego announced the 2015-'16 Ducks TV schedule, which will feature 53 games on FSSD and 22 on FOX Sports West. All games will feature a half-hour pre and postgame show with Ducks Live.

The "pylon cam" is now a thing in the NFL and last night we had a great look at what point-of-view it can give us viewers... Without injuring any players or cameramen.
