San Diego Buzz: Dodgers are in town and college football is back

For the final time this season the Los Angeles Dodgers are visiting the San Diego Padres this weekend, and things got off to a great start last night for the Friar faithful in the 10-7 victory. Justin Upton showed us that he has absolutely no poker face on the field after a call goes his way. And there's always a buzz when the Dodgers travel south, so Brie Thiele went to Petco Park and asked fans why San Diego is the best city in southern California.
With the Texas Rangers visiting the Padres earlier in the week, some old friends were reunited. Former Padre Will Venable made his first appearance in San Diego as a player for a different team, so fans played a little game of Wil or Will? And Padres GM A.J. Preller caught up with his old friend and college roommate Jon Daniels, who is the GM of the Rangers. Both GM's sat down with Mark Grant on Padres Live for a fun chat.
Donnel Pumphrey:
Josh Williams:
Chargers and San Diego legend LaDainian Tomlinson was honored last week at the Taste of the Cove fundraiser in La Jolla, where he stopped by to chat with Brie Thiele about the upcoming Chargers' season and his new role as an analyst on TV, something LT says is pretty tough to get used to.
Nothing else really to say here, so just watch:
Blake Griffin showed off some skills with a basketball that he really can't use in a game, but nevertheless it was still fun to watch... He also showed off the new Clippers jersey in doing so.

The San Diego Padres are always on top of the game when it comes to community work. This week, Padres POV highlighted the STAR/PAL sports camp day, which surprised its kids with a baseball day at Petco Park for the time ever. Also, the Padres' wives are getting involved this week with a fundraiser benefitting Monarch School, auctioning off their husband's favorite things in gift baskets.
Not really a San Diego story here, but Justin Turner is in town this weekend so we'll run with it. Turner shows kids why you should wear a helmet on the base paths... To fake out the defense obviously...
