KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Party at Paul Rudd's mom's house!

For real this time.

We think.

The Royals superfan and future Marvel super hero -- his work in the title role in the film "Ant-Man" is scheduled to hit American theaters July 17 -- went on the "Late Show with David Letterman" earlier this week and cleared the air on a topic that had been dangling for a while:

Was there a kegger at your mom's house after the Royals reached the World Series for the first time since 1985? And if so, how many people actually turned up?

Answer to the first question: No.

And to the second: At least three.

Rudd, a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School in suburban Overland Park, Kan., became a darling viral sidebar to the Royals' darling Cinderella run to the 2014 Fall Classic when, during an interview on the field with KMBC-TV's Johnny Kane, he appeared to invite the viewing audience over to his mother's home for celebratory beers.

"People showed up," the actor told Letterman this week. "I was completely kidding. Some people did show up."

One problem ...

"My mom doesn't live in that house anymore."

But Rudd's sister and brother-in-law apparently do, and they were understandably less than amused at the surprise guests. The actor said "three guys" turned up at the house in question, wine bottles in hand, looking to party.

"(My brother-in-law) said, 'No. Get lost. It was a joke.'"

After taking some well deserved grief from the talk show host, Rudd threw his party cards back on the table again.

"But if (the Royals) do win the World Series this year, seriously -- two kegs at my mom's house," the actor said with a grin. "It's happening."

"You're not kidding this time?" Letterman asked.

"Nope. This time, it's on."

You heard the man. Although you might want to call ahead first.
