Report: Frustrated Gore lashes out at Harbaugh

very bad for San Francisco. According to Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle, running back Frank Gore (who had season-bests 82 yards and a 22-yard run but also had only 3 carries for 12 yards in the second half) had some choice words about head coach Jim Harbaugh near the conclusion of Sunday's game, and made sure others could hear them.

So, what really happened? Maybe we should just ask Gore. “When things are not going right you get frustrated,” Gore told the Los Angeles Times. "But, I think the game kind of got different in the second half and we had to do what we had to do, just throw the ball. And that’s what it was.” Coach Jim Harbaugh wasn't asked about the confrontation, but he did address his team's effort on Sunday. “You can question just about everything right now,” Harbaugh said. “We didn’t play well enough to win in enough areas on enough downs. Did not win the down enough. Not even closely. They did, they made the plays offensively, defensively and we did not.” The Gore-Harbaugh tiff wasn't the first time a star player on a struggling perceived contender sounded off at a coach Sunday, as Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy exchanged, ummm, pleasantries in Cincinnati. And like the Packers, the 49ers are now 1-2 in a division with a rival at 3-0. But several things set the 49ers apart from the Pack. 1) Their only win this season is in the season opener against Green Bay (so how good does that win look now?) 2) San Francisco has scored only 44 points this season — only the Bucs have scored fewer in the NFC. 3) The 49ers have been outscored by 40 points this season — also second-worst in the NFC. 4) The Packers get a week off to figure things out; the 49ers have a shortened week and play at St. Louis this Thursday.
