Remembering Davey Nelson
"It is with tremendous sadness that we mourn the passing of our good friend, Davey Nelson," FOX Sports Wisconsin Senior Vice President and General Manager Mike Dimond said in a statement. "Davey’s infectious and friendly personality brought joy to all he encountered, including Brewers fans who watched him on TV. We are so very thankful to call him friend and even more thankful for the positive impact he will continue to have on so many across the world."
The former major-league infielder and longtime FOX Sports Wisconsin analyst, passed away at the age of 73 on Monday.
He shared stories from his playing days with FOX Sports Wisconsin as part of the Davey Remembers series, chronicling his incredible experiences in and around baseball.
An All-Star in 1973, Nelson spent 10 seasons in the majors from 1968-77 with the Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals. Nelson became the Milwaukee Brewers' first-base coach in 2003 and joined FOX Sports Wisconsin in 2006.
Nelson is also remembered for his philanthropic work.
