Reasons to watch the Reds: Simon tries to reach landmark
Here are the top three reasons to watch Reds Live and the Reds take on the Pirates Wednesday night on FOX Sports Ohio:
3. The Reds can get back to .500 with a win: Cincinnati has not been at the .500 mark since they were 11-11 back on April 4. They can change that on June 18, as a victory would put them at 35-35, after they've won five of their last six. The win Tuesday night moved the Reds into third place in the National League Central, ahead of the Pirates.
2. To see a special feature on Joe Nuxhall: It's the anniversary of a first for the iconic Reds pitcher. Tune in before the game to catch the piece on Reds Live, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
1. Alfredo Simon has a chance to earn a National League first: Simon starts for the Reds tonight, taking on a former Red, Edinson Volquez. Simon was not originally slated to be a part of the rotation prior to Mat Latos' injury but has been one of the most reliable performers. If he can score the victory in Pittsburgh, he'll become the first 10-game winning in the N.L.
We'll have all that and also continue our "Tech Talk" series with Sean Mahron, the Reds strength coach.
