Smyly, 25, finishes the year 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 28 appearances (25 starts). He was 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA in seven starts with the Rays the season. He pitched a career-high 153 innings this year, easily topping his previous high of 99 1/3 as a rookie in 2012.
