Pelicans mascot Pierre the Pelican debuts makeover

Pierre is going to be OK, everybody.
Monday, the New Orleans Pelicans announced that their mascot, Pierre the Pelican had to undergo surgery due to a broken beak and a concussion while playing a pickup game with fellow NBA mascots.

Well, it appears mascot recovery time is pretty quick because Pierre was better and back cheering on the Pelicans at a watch party during the team's 102-98 win over the Bucks Wednesday.
When the bird premiered at the beginning of the season, many were not pleased with the "scary" looking mascot, so during Pierre's "injury" the franchise took the time to give their mascot a facelift.
Well, it was more like a face shave. They took a little off the sides of his face, rounded his beak, trimmed his fur down and closed his mouth a little bit. The new version definitely comes across a little less frightening.
Overall, we have to say the makeover was a definite improvement, and just in time for All-Star weekend.
Speedy recovery, indeed. Welcome back, @PierreTPelican! pic.twitter.com/rkV6qp47O7
