GREEN BAY, Wis. — The search in the Packers' front office to find a quality safety to replace Nick Collins continued on Friday with Green Bay's pickup of Micah Pellerin off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts.

To make room on the roster for Pellerin, the Packers released wide receiver Marcus Rivers, a non-drafted free-agent acquisition by Green Bay in early May.

Pellerin, a rookie out of Hampton University, signed with the Colts after going undrafted. He was a first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference selection last season after leading the conference with 19 passes defended and finishing second with four interceptions. He began his college career at Southern Mississippi before transferring to Hampton.

Pellerin will wear No. 32 with the Packers and join a safety group that includes starter Morgan Burnett, rookie Jerron McMillian and veteran Charlie Peprah, as well as M.D. Jennings and Anthony Levine.
