NAU's Upshur named Big Sky player of the week

OGDEN, Utah -- Northern Arizona junior transfer Quinton Upshur was selected as the Big Sky men'€™s basketball player of the week for games played between January 13 and 18. This is his first career Big Sky player of the week honor.

Upshur was unstoppable this past week as he led NAU to a 3-0 record and a tie in first place to bring the Lumberjacks’ conference record to 5-1. He shot 69.6 percent from the field for an average of 16.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He shot 44.4 percent from 3-point range, and 92.3 percent from the free throw line.

He went 4 for 6 from the field versus Southern Utah to finish with 10 points with three rebounds, one assist and a steal in 21 minutes of action.

In the win over Eastern Washington, Upshur shot 7 for 10 from the field for a career high 26 points. He also connected on 11-of-12 free throws, grabbed six rebounds and added two steals in 30 minutes of play.

Upshur ended the week with 12 points on 5 for 7 shooting in 23 minutes of play, including two three-pointers in the victory over Portland State. He also pulled down two rebounds.

Upshur also earned College Sports Madness' Big Sky player of the week honors.
