FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Middle blocker Izzy Gosar from the Arizona state champion Flagstaff High School volleyball team is one of three student-athletes to sign national letters of intent to join the NAU volleyball program in 2013. Joining Gosar will be setter/hitter Jensen Barton from Arcadia High School in Phoenix and outside hitter Addy Lofstedt from Monarch High School in Louisville, Colo.
Gosar will be the first Flagstaff native to play at NAU in more than a decade. She led Flagstaff High School to a 42-0-1 record and the state championship a week and a half ago as the Eagles rallied for a 3-2 win in the Division II title match over Barton’s Arcadia team. The 6-0 Gosar totaled 284 kills, 125 blocks and 119 digs during her senior season. She is the daughter of U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar.
Barton led her Arcadia team to the Division II title match and a 30-5 record during her senior season. She totaled 270 kills, 460 assists, and 170 digs this season while hitting .528. She had 519 assists for her 30-4 team during her junior season.
Lofstedt is a 5-11 outside hitter that played at Monarch High School and the Colorado Juniors volleyball club. She led her team with 266 kills during her senior season. She also led the team with 26 service aces and was second with 120 digs. She was one of 17 players from her club team to sign to play collegiate volleyball.
The three additions will help offset the loss of five seniors who will be graduating from the NAU volleyball program.
