Marquette cruises to 106-53 exhibition win
The Marquette Golden Eagles won their only exhibition game before the regular season, 106-53, against Rockhurst University at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Saturday.
Six players scored in double-digits in the tune-up. Offensively, the Golden Eagles tallied 29 assists on 42 field goals and committed just five turnovers. On the other side, Marquette forced 17 turnovers, turning them into 30 points while dominating the boards, 42-30.
Freshman Markus Howard led with 17 points in 18 minutes on the floor on 5-for-8 shooting including four from long-range. Andrew Rowsey went 3-for-6 from 3 to finish with 13 points.
The Golden Eagles held a 53-19 advantage at halftime after shooting 61.8 percent (21-34) from the field.
Marquette will open the regular season against Vanderbilt at the Veterans Classic in Annapolis, Maryland on Friday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
