Lon Babby moves from president to advisory role for Suns
Lon Babby
PHOENIX -- The Suns on Wednesday announced a front-office reorganization, with general manager Ryan McDonough becoming head of basketball operations and Lon Babby transitioning to the position of senior advisor.
Babby has served as president of basketball operations for the past five years following a 35-year career as a lawyer and player agent. He will continue to be based in Phoenix and play a role in contract negotiations and salary-cap management.
"I am grateful that Robert (Sarver, managing partner) has accommodated my wish to reduce my workload, while remaining a vital part of the Suns organization," Babby said in a statement released by the team. "At this stage of my career, I welcome the flexibility that comes with this new role, a flexibility that will enable me to do other things that are important to me both personally and in the community. I feel particularly confident in making this transition because of the quality of leadership in place within the organization."
