Lightning recall defenseman Slater Koekkoek

TAMPA BAY â The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Slater Koekkoek from the Syracuse Crunch, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced Thursday.
Koekkoek, 21, has skated in 43 games with the Crunch this season, posting four goals and 12 points to go along with 22 penalty minutes. He ranks third among Syracuse defensemen for points and assists (eight). The Mountain, Ontario native has appeared in 115 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past two seasons, notching nine goals and 38 points. Last season, Koekkoek led all Syracuse defenders for points (26) and assists (21).
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound defenseman has played in one game with the Lightning this season, a 2-1 Bolts victory over the Buffalo Sabres on October 17 at Amalie Arena. Koekkoek has appeared in four career NHL games, all with the Lightning over the past two seasons, recording two penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut last season against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 31, 2015.
Koekkoek was originally drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 10th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.
