Leo Manzano wins 800 meters in Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Olympic silver medalist Leo Manzano won the 800 meters in 1 minute, 46.63 seconds Thursday to break his own Texas Relays and Mike A. Myers Stadium record.

Manzano set the previous mark of 1:47.34 last year.

Mary Goldkamp set a Texas Relays record in the women's 3,000 steeplechase at 10:04.24.

Arkansas' Alexandria Gochenour won the heptathlon with 6,027 points, edging out Texas A&M's Jena Hemann by 25 points. Gochenour never trailed in the event after posting the best time Wednesday in the 100 hurdles, the first event. UTEP's Jallycia Pearson was third with 5,527 points.

Evan Weinstock won the decathlon with 7,557 points, beating Stanford's Harrison Williams (7,518).

Weinstock, a volunteer assistant at Stanford, is training for the 2016 Olympic Trials. He was a three-time Ivy League champion in the decathlon at Brown.

Indiana's Stephen Keller finished third with 7,149 points while 2012 Dutch Olympian Ingmar Vos was fourth with 7,135. Vos led the event entering the 1,500, but did not finish the race.

Wayland Baptist's Benard Keter won the men's 3,000 steeplechase in 8:47.60, and UTEP's Anthony Rotich took the 1,500 in 3:46.58.

Marquette's Kathryn Koeck won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 196 feet, 2 inches. Florida's Kyle Strawn won the men's event at 222-1.
