LOS ANGELES – Four Los Angeles players, two Lakers and two Clippers, were named to the All-NBA teams, which the NBA announced on Thursday.
Both Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul were named to the first team as its two guards. Rounding out the first team were Miami’s LeBron James, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and San Antonio’s Tim Duncan. Bryant’s first-team selection is the 11th of his career, which ties him with Karl Malone for the most such selections of any player in NBA history.
Blake Griffin made the second team as a forward. New York’s Carmelo Anthony claimed the second team’s other forward spot, and Memphis’s Marc Gasol, Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook and San Antonio’s Tony Parker rounded out the group.
Dwight Howard was selected as the third team center. Joining him on the third team were Golden State’s David Lee, Indiana’s Paul George, Miami’s Dwyane Wade and Houston’s James Harden.
Pau Gasol, who failed to make a team, received four votes.
Both Los Angeles teams lost in the first round of the playoffs. Of the 15 players selected to the three teams, six play for teams that are still active in their respective conference finals. Apart from the four Lakers and Clippers, only James Harden played for a team that did not advance out of the playoffs’ first round this year.
