Kingery, Newman named to All-Pac-12 team
Arizona sophomores Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman were among 32 players named to the All-Pac-12 baseball team, as voted on by conference coaches.
Kingery, an outfielder from Scottsdale, led the Wildcats with a .354 batting average, a .456 on-base percentage, 19 stolen bases and 41 runs scored. Newman, a shortstop from Poway, Calif., is a repeat selection after hitting .304 with 39 RBI. He was also named to the All-Defensive Team.
Sophomore outfielder Zach Gibbons earned honorable mention.
Oregon State junior outfielder Michael Conforto was voted Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, and his teammate, junior left-hander Jace Fry, was named Pitcher of the Year. The conference's other individual awards went to Washington junior shortstop Erik Forgione, Defensive Player of the Year; Stanford pitcher Cal Quantrill, Freshman of the Year, and Washington's Lindsay Meggs, Coach of the Year.
