Key Steelers player will miss rest of season after being injured by teammate

By Sam Gardner, FOXSports.com A disastrous season-opening loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers was only made worse by the postgame revelation that Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL and MCL. And if that news isn’t bad enough, video clearly shows that Pouncey’s injury was caused by one of his own teammates. In the GIF below, you can see guard David DeCastro (66) pulling to his left on a handoff to Isaac Redman. At one point, DeCastro decided to dive, but did so directly into the lower body of Pouncey (53), who was engaged with Titans defensive tackle Sammie Hill:

Pouncey has started all but three games for Pittsburgh since being drafted 18th overall in 2010, and his absence this season could be devastating to an offensive line that allowed five sacks on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in Week 1. (GIFvia Steelers Depot)
