Johnson out, Bush in for Lions Sunday

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:22 p.m. ET

DETROIT -- Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson will miss his second straight game because of a high-ankle sprain.

Johnson, who had been listed as questionable, is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field.

Eric Ebron (hamstring) also will miss the game for the Lions, who promoted Jordan Thompson from practice squad to help fill the void at tight end.

Thompson, 25, who went undrafted coming out of Ohio University in 2013, is expected to make his NFL debut against the Saints.

To make room on the 53-man roster for him, the Lions placed linebacker Travis Lewis (quadricep) on season-ending injured reserve.

Running back Reggie Bush is expected to start for the Lions after missing last week's game with an ankle injury, but one of his backups, Theo Riddick, is out with a hamstring injury.

For the Saints, tight end Jimmy Graham is active and expected to play, probably in a limited role, despite a shoulder injury.
