Jerry Jones: We may not have played with passion you'd expect

Having had a night to mull it over, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones summed up his team's 33-10 loss to Philadelphia frankly.

"We had a bad day, and there's a lot of specific reasons for having that bad day," he said in a radio interview with 105.3 FM The Fan.

The Cowboys turned the ball over three times, they mustered a mere 267 yards of offense and they allowed the Eagles to run wild for 464 total yards. On top of that poor performance, Jones said it looked like the Cowboys were flat for the nationally televised games -- not that he could pinpoint why.

"We didn't execute, we may not have played with the passion that you would expect in a game like that," Jones said. "Don't ask me why -- and I guess if you can't ask me, who can you ask?"

There will be plenty of questions to ask as the Cowboys begin breaking down the tape of the Philadelphia loss. Their Dec. 4 road trip to Chicago looms large next week, and following that is the rematch with the Eagles -- which has already been oft-discussed.

It's been noted how angry and disappointed most of the Cowboys' locker room was in the aftermath of the loss. Several players, from Dez Bryant to Jeremy Mincey, said they couldn't wait to have another shot at their divisional rivals.

Jones wasn't particularly interested in hearing about postgame attitudes, however.

"Locker room, a few minutes after the game -- shoot, come on," he said. "It was the last three hours where the attitude is supposed to be."

He did reiterate an important point from Thursday night, though. Last year's home loss to the Eagles ended the Cowboys' season. Despite the lopsided nature of the loss, Dallas still has four games to play and a chance to reach the playoffs.

"That's really what we have to be thankful for. If there's anything yesterday was -- unlike a year ago, sitting in that dressing room,  it was over. We didn't have any more to play," Jones said. "Well now then, we've got a quarter of our season left, we play the very guys that we were disappointed with how we played them last night. We play them again. We do play them up there, but we've got it all out here."
