Jerry Jones: Cowboys 'need to be glanced at' as darkhorse for playoffs
Jerry Jones did a good job of lowering expectations before the season started. The Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager said last month that his team faced "an uphill battle" and had their "backs up against the wall" after three consecutive 8-8 finishes.
But after a 2-1 start, Jones' expectations might be shifting slightly.
He was asked Friday about the Cowboys potentially being a darkhorse playoff contender.
"I think we've shown some things that would cause you to hold up in discounting us," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. "That's an awkward way of saying that we should be looked at out of the corner of people's eye. We've got it to do, though. We've got to put it together with putting the right people on the field as it relates to injury, and that's happening for us."
Jones went on to explain how much better the Cowboys could be defensively when they get back injured players like Henry Melton, Rolando McClain, Terrell McClain and Anthony Spencer.
"Yeah," Jones said. "We need to be glanced at over here."
