According to a criminal complaint filed by Marquette University police, a 20-year-old Marquette lacrosse player named Charley Gargano on Saturday allegedly took four hits of LSD, got into a fight with a friend and punched a female police officer, fracturing her face in two places, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.

Gargano was arrested and charged with substantial battery. If convicted, he could face 3 1/2 years in prison.

Police say Gargano told them he took acid four times during a concert. The report continues, saying that he subsequently got into an altercation on the street with a friend, who said Gargano hit him.

When an officer intervened, Gargano allegedly followed orders to get on the ground, then popped up and hit the officer twice, sending her tumbling into a concrete planter. The blow broke her orbital bone and nose, requiring eight stitches.
