OK, let’s get this out of the way up front: Those crazy stories you’ve heard about sin and debauchery along Talladega Boulevard late at night? Well, chances are they’re probably true.
Talladega Boulevard, located smack in the infield of the mammoth 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, is Ground Zero for all manner of adult — and occasionally deviant — behavior. Expect to see the Three B’s: Beer, Beads and Breasts. All are plentiful along Talladega Boulevard and the adjacent campgrounds around the track.
If you want the rowdy section outside the track, try the GEICO West Parks A and B. There is no quiet zone there at all, so the action can — and does — often go all night long.
It’s not uncommon to see campers set up with full bars, club-level outdoor audio systems and, yes, even stripper poles. Google “Talladega Infield” and you’ll quickly get an idea of what it’s like.
From time to time, state and local authorities try to tame the action down, there will always be adult revelry at Talladega, which some liken to a Woodstock for race fans. The good news? Most folks are there to party and are a very easy-going crowd. They just want to have fun.
A couple of words of advice if you’re hitting the party trail:
1. Take some friends so you can keep an eye on each other to make sure things don’t get too out of hand.
2. Look, don’t touch. That applies to pretty much everything you see.
3. What happens in ‘Dega stays in ‘Dega.
4. Above all else, if you’re enjoying adult beverages, don’t even think about driving. There are a ton of police around the perimeter of the track and the infield and they understandably and correctly are sticklers about not drinking and driving.
