LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Freshmen Jordan Hooper scored 16 points and Kellie McCann-Smith added 13 while No. 24 Nebraska used a strong defensive performance to defeat UNLV 65-41 on Tuesday night.
The Cornhuskers (6-0) held UNLV to one field goal over the first 14 minutes of the second half and built their lead to 27 points on their way to their 25th straight home win.
Hooper, who reached 100 career points faster than any freshman in program history, made four 3-pointers. McCann-Smith also hit four 3s as well.
The Rebels (4-2) never led but got within 18-16 before Hooper made three 3s during a 13-3 run over the last 5:31 of the half.
UNLV, which committed 26 turnovers, was held to a measly 24 percent (15 for 50) shooting.
