Gophers CB Boddy-Calhoun won't need surgery on injured knee

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers finally got a little good news on the injury front.

Coach Jerry Kill says star cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun will not need surgery on the knee he injured last Saturday against Ohio. Kill would not say if Boddy-Calhoun would be available this weekend in the Big Ten opener at Northwestern. But not needing surgery at least indicates Boddy-Calhoun will not have to miss a significant amount of time.

The Gophers also got receiver Drew Wolitarsky after he suffered a concussion in the victory over Ohio.

Minnesota still has a rash of injuries, especially in the secondary. Antonio Johnson (concussion) and KiAnte Hardin (ankle) were injured against the Bobcats. Safety Damarius Travis has been battling a hamstring injury and will not play against the Wildcats.
