French handball player scores penalty so amazing even opponents had to cheer

Admittedly, I don't watch a ton of handball outside of the occasional Olympics match every four years. However, I will always appreciate a great sports highlight when I see one, and this is a wonderful handball highlight.

It comes from an alumni game featuring former handball stars during All-Star Game festivities in France this week. The shooter/thrower is Gregory Anquetil, a three-time Olympian for the French national handball team from 1996-2004.

Anquetil was awarded a penalty during the match and decided to reach into his bag of tricks for a very sneaky and very creative goal. Following a pump fake, the veteran handballer delivered a surprise attempt on net with his back to the keeper. Using a combination of surprise and spin, Anquetil got himself a pretty superb goal.

Again, I don't watch a ton of handball, but I have to assume this display was a bit out of the ordinary considering even the opposing team felt compelled to applaud the performance. That's usually a pretty good sign something wonderful just happened.
