Coaching legend Bobby Bowden made his first return to Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium since his retirement as the Seminoles' coach in 2009 — and he provided the highlight of the day by planting the traditional spear during the pregame ceremonies.
Bowden, who is the all-time leader in FBS history in wins and bowl wins, claimed two national titles at Florida State during his 40-year career, but planting the spear had to be a first:

Bowden returns to find his former program ranked No. 2 in the BCS standings and looking to make its own return to the BCS Championship game for the first time since he led the 'Noles to the 2000 title game in a loss to Oklahoma.

Florida State boasts a 6-0 record and ranks in the nation's top-10 in scoring offense and defense.
