Favre gets his 'groom back' in stubbly video ad

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:22 p.m. ET

On and off the field over the last two decades, whether with a football or with a cell phone, throwing into double coverage or vacillating between retirements, Brett Favre has gotten himself into -- and out of -- some pretty hairy situations.

But it appears now the ever-scruffy ex-gunslinger, whose bushy-bearded photos have made the internet rounds a bit the past few years, has decided to clean up his act.

Or, as he puts it in an advertisement video posted Tuesday for the personal trimmer company Micro Touch: "It's time to get my groom back."

In the ad, an even-more-hirsute-than-usual Favre -- wearing a sleeveless gray shirt and (undoubtedly) his trusty, light-wash Wrangler jeans -- rides a giant, green tractor while a montage of old-glory action shots flash on the screen. Favre says that, since retiring, "I've kind of let myself grow."

Cut to Favre in the bathroom, employing the use of Micro Touch's three tidying tools, shearing his face-carpet, trimming those pesky nose hairs, flashing the familiar boyish smile and proudly declaring that he has, indeed, gotten his "groom back."

Another victory for No. 4.
